How to Make Chinese-style Stir-Fried Tofu with Veggies and Noodles

Stir-fried tofu with veggies and noodles is a delicious and nutritious dish that's perfect for a quick weeknight meal. This Chinese-style recipe is packed with flavors and can easily be customized to suit your taste. Follow these simple steps to create your own delightful stir-fried tofu dish!

Ingredients

  • 1 block of firm tofu
  • 2 cups of mixed vegetables (bell peppers, broccoli, and carrots work well)
  • 2 servings of noodles (rice noodles or egg noodles)
  • 3 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of sesame oil (or vegetable oil)
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon of cornstarch (optional, for crispy tofu)
  • Green onions, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Tofu

Start by pressing the tofu to remove excess moisture. Wrap the tofu block in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top for about 30 minutes. After pressing, cut the tofu into cubes. If you want a crispier texture, toss the cubes in cornstarch.

Step 2: Cook the Noodles

In a pot of boiling water, cook the noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside, tossing them with a little sesame oil to prevent sticking.

Step 3: Stir-Fry the Tofu

Heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the tofu cubes in a single layer and fry until golden brown on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the tofu and set aside.

Step 4: Stir-Fry the Vegetables

In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of oil, followed by the minced garlic and ginger. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add your mixed vegetables and stir-fry for about 4-5 minutes until they are tender-crisp.

Step 5: Combine Everything

Return the cooked tofu to the skillet with the veggies. Pour in the soy sauce and toss everything together for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Finally, add the cooked noodles and toss to combine all ingredients thoroughly.

Step 6: Garnish and Serve

Once everything is well mixed and heated through, serve your stir-fried tofu with veggies and noodles hot, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds. Enjoy!

Tips for a Perfect Stir-Fried Tofu Dish

- Experiment with different vegetables according to the season or your preference. Snap peas, mushrooms, and baby corn are great alternatives.

- For added flavor, consider marinating the tofu in soy sauce and spices for 30 minutes before cooking.
